Meet our Racquet Center Staff

Scott is a passionate Tennis Director and Elite Developmental coach with 40 years of experience in all aspects of the tennis industry. He has 30 years of experience running successful creative tennis events, tennis tournaments, round robins and fund raisers. Previously Scott was the Director of Tennis at The Yacht & Tennis Club of St Pete Beach he was also the Men’s And Women’s Head Tennis Coach at Eckerd College for 19 years. After Eckerd College Scott with past Director Kevin Quay built one of the best small elite junior programs in the country, right here at Isla. This program has developed 42 players that have gone onto playing college tennis. Scott has been a member of the Florida Coaches Commission. He is also a member of the USPTA. Scott is originally from Pittsburgh, PA.

From Karlsruhe, Germany, Martin has deep Florida roots and a remarkable career. Since the age of 12 years old, Martin trained here in St. Petersburg and Bradenton. He turned pro at 17 and achieved an ATP ranking of 250. Martin’s experience includes coaching at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, where he worked with a young Maria Sharapova and Mary Pierce. He also directed his own academy in Wild Dunes, SC, and was the Director of Tennis at Umpqua Valley Tennis Center in Oregon and just before coming to Isla. Martin was a head coach at LTP Tennis, in Daniel Island, SC. Martin brings a world-class perspective and a high level of play to Isla.

A Florida resident for the past 6 years, Mike has been hooked on pickleball for the last 4. With a 4.3 DUPR rating, he's a seasoned competitor, having medaled in numerous statewide tournaments over the past 3 years. Mike's passion extends beyond his own play. He's a proven leader, having organized local tournaments and leagues, and boasting strong connections within the Florida pickleball community. This will open doors for our members to connect with the sport's growing scene and enjoy exciting new opportunities.

PTR Certified Doug Cash, is involved with the high performance Junior program, he is also taking care of all the racquet stringing for the club.

USPTA and PTR Certified Ed LaVoie, Ed is in charge of our weekly Open Play Exchanges and he also runs our starter Junior program.
